Driving Vendor Change from Within

Extra recruiting help is often necessary but not always the easiest to implement when there are current vendors that have been used for a while even if they are ineffective . Here is the easiest way to test and add a new vendor so you can get the help you need:

  1. Verify that slow IT staffing is affecting multiple teams: speak with 2-3 peers to verify that they are facing similar headwinds when building their teams. This provides a foundation that shows management that IT recruiting isn’t just affecting 1 group. It’s an issue across multiple people that is slowing down business growth and profitability as a whole. It’s important to collect the right data. Ex: most roles are taking 3-4 months to fill, out of 5 roles, we only got 1 qualified candidate, the current project will not be completed by the desired date with the current process etc.

  2. Test the proposed new staffing vendor: before you make the effort to add a new vendor, make sure that they can deliver on promises. We recommend doing a 1-week trial period across 3-5 open job roles that can be spread across 2 teams.

  3. Discover what the new vendor process is: with results in hand from the trial, speak with HR or your direct manager to discover what the process is for adding a new vendor. It is important that you lead with the business case.

  4. Collaborate with the new vendor: the vendor should communicate with you throughout the new vendor process to ensure that they are onboarded smoothly. This can take anywhere from 1 day to a few weeks.

  5. Enjoy the benefits of the new vendor: now it’s the vendor’s turn to put in the hard work to help build your time while you dedicate your time to higher priorities.

Overall, getting extra hiring help is easy when approached the right way. If you or your team have any extra questions, we’d be happy to help here at Bryterr.
